If you do not select this option and the target drive number differs from that of the source drive, applicable drive references residing within the restored partitions will be updated to reflect the new hard drive number. My understanding is that this applies to the order of the drives and how Linux referenced them (older versions). If you changed the drive order then it wouldn't be able to find the partitions because the references would be incorrect. The "reference" is not the signature or GUID -- it's just the "order" of the drives. You would use this option to retain those references so when the drive was put back into the original system the partitions could be found properly. Какой? sda, sdb, sdc что ли? 2) Copy Disk Signature - This option applies when you copy a partition that had been assigned a drive letter within Windows. If you select this option, Image for Linux will copy the disk signature associated with the source partition. If you dont select this option, Image for Linux will use the disk signature already present in the MBR of the target drive; if none exists, Image for Linux will create one. If you are copying a partition that had been assigned a drive letter in Windows and you wish to keep that drive letter assignment, select this option. For GPT drives the disk GUID will not be changed. dialmak When the MBR is selected along with the disk backup, you need to retain operating system bootability on the target disk volume. The operating system must have the system volume information (e.g. volume letter) matched with the disk NT signature, which is kept in the MBR disk record. But two disks with the same NT signature cannot work properly under one operating system. If there are two disks having the same NT signature and comprising of a system volume on a machine, at the startup the operating system runs from the first disk, discovers the same signature on the second one, automatically generates a new unique NT signature and assigns it to the second disk. As a result, all the volumes on the second disk will lose their letters, all paths will be invalid on the disk, and programs won't find their files. The operating system on that disk will be unbootable. |
